UAE enhances its housing system with over AED1 billion($272.2 million) in approvals benefiting more than 1,300 citizens, ensuring prompt support and family stability. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, said that approvals issued in January under the Sheikh Zayed Housing Program benefited over 1,300 citizens. H.H. added that efforts are underway to increase the number of beneficiaries throughout the year to address all pending applications.
Commitment to family stability
Reflecting on achievements in the housing sector over the past two years, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed noted that 13,000 applications were processed and approved, with the current waiting period reduced to just two months – a timeline that ranks among the shortest globally.
H.H. Sheikh Mohammed further underlined the UAE’s commitment to promoting family stability through continuous improvements in housing services, emphasizing the development of an integrated system to streamline approvals across funding and housing entities. The aim, he said, is to eventually enable approvals within a single day.
Advancing the national housing system
The UAE remains committed to advancing its national housing system through comprehensive strategies that ensure sustainability in the delivery of housing services, with the Sheikh Zayed Housing Program playing a central role in realizing this vision.
Earlier in January, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed authorized the launch of a series of housing projects valued at AED5.4 billion ($1.5 billion) to benefit citizens throughout various areas of Dubai.
These initiatives led to the construction of 3,004 new homes for Emirati citizens. Among these, 1,181 homes were established in Latifa City for beneficiaries under the housing loan category. For those in the housing grant category, the projects included 606 new homes in Al Yalayis 5, 432 homes in Wadi Al Amardi, 398 homes in Al Awir 1, 200 homes in the Makan area of Hatta, 120 homes in Oud Al Muteena, and 67 homes in the countryside and rural areas of Dubai.
Moreover, the housing projects, which provide diverse options for Emirati citizens, align with the Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Family Program launched by Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, the wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. This program aims to enhance the wellbeing of families in Dubai, promote their stability and cohesion, renew community values, improve the overall quality of family life, create a supportive social environment, and assist families in achieving a balanced work-life dynamic.
