At this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival, Numarine, the coveted European shipyard showcased its brand new 30XP series Minella, the brand’s first diesel-electric yacht.
The new 30XP is built in the style of an explorer yacht, a modern take on the typically Scandinavian vessels. Designed by Can Yalman, yacht enthusiasts first got a glimpse of the 30XP back in September 2022, which also coincided with the two-decade anniversary of Numarine.
Overall, the 30XP is part of a series of seven yachts produced by the shipyard, which range from 22 to 45 meters. Minella holds a special place in the lineup as Numarine moves to a greener future.
Economical and kinder to the environment
30XP measures 30.8 meters and can be powered in one of two ways.
As the first of its kind from the shipyard, Minella houses a hybrid propulsion setup with two electric engines supported by four 108 kW diesel generators. This system is more economical for fuel use and kinder to the environment. For the more traditional seafarer who may not be convinced with the hybrid setup yet, there is an option for the twin 560hp MAN engines.
Both power options will provide a max speed of 13 knots with a cruising speed of 10 knots. The 30XP can travel a massive 3,000 nautical miles when the speed is set to 8 knots.
Ömer Malaz, founder and chairman of Numarine, says the inspiration for the yacht stems from prioritizing simplicity, minimalism, and functionality while creating a warm, homely feel.
Founded in 2002 by Malaz, the brand builds explorer-type yachts ranging from 22 to 45 meters at a rate of about 20 per year. To date, Numarine has rolled out 160 yachts.
“From my experience with spending leisure time with my family on motor yachts, I always felt there was something missing, and I was always wanting more,” says Malaz, summing up the inception story of Numarine.
The accommodation and interior space
Up to 10 guests can be lavishly accommodated in the five en-suite staterooms, four of which are on the lower deck, with a grand master cabin on the forward main deck.
The sleek and spacious design of the 30XP starts at the master cabin. It features floor-to-ceiling windows to enhance the sweeping vistas, whether in the Caribbean or the Aegean coast. There is a dedicated office space with an equally modern desk and large window. The master suite also features a private fold-out balcony, which creates a space usually reserved for much larger yachts.
The guest cabins — thanks to the clever design — feel larger than they are, with ample sunshine shining through the oversized windows. The crew is also taken care of in stylish quarters with enough space for five.
The main saloon is large, with full-height windows and large sofas that once again create a premium space with a homely feel and stylish finishes. Light wood-colored panels combine perfectly with the darker floors. The galley is the perfect interpretation of what the 30XP stands for. It has a mix of industrial feel with practicality, sleek design, and it is completed with large windows to enhance the spacious feel.

The exterior space
Starting from the flybridge, the large sofas in a semi-circle create a very cozy feeling outdoors. There is ample space to fit a party of eight around the table for alfresco dining. Depending on preference, a wet bar can be integrated into the flybridge, with plenty of space for entertaining.
There is a lot to talk about on the 30XP, and the beach club certainly comes right at the top.
The innovative design of the yacht provides a raised deck above the beach club, which serves as a lounging area that can double as a sunbathing deck. The beach club has three fold-down balconies that extend the surface area to exceed 40 square meters. This kind of space is something that would rival yachts over 50 meters. The creation of the beach club does not negate the tender bay, which is taken care of on the side and can accommodate a tender measuring around 6 meters.
To the foredeck sits the ‘sunpad’, providing a dedicated space for soaking the rays during day time and for memorable sundowners in the evening. This space is created thanks to the ingenious raised pilothouse design.
All in all, the 30XP creates a vessel that is sleek, minimalist, luxurious, and kinder to the environment. And for me, it is the future of yachting.
