Oman and Egypt have signed seven agreements aimed at enhancing cooperation across various sectors, including investment, labor, and regional security. These agreements emerged after recent discussions between the foreign ministers of both countries in Cairo.
Egyptian Foreign and Emigration Minister Badr Abdelatty welcomed his Omani counterpart, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, for the 16th session of the Egyptian-Omani Joint Committee. The talks led to new memorandums of understanding focused on labor, mineral wealth, investment promotion, media cooperation, food safety, and religious affairs.
According to a statement from Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tamim Khallaf, the discussions were intended to strengthen all facets of their bilateral relationship, aligning with directives from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Omani Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.
Minister Abdelatty articulated Egypt’s aspiration for a “qualitative leap” in economic integration, especially in trade, industry, renewable energy—including green hydrogen and ammonia—logistics, and technology. He emphasized the importance of activating a joint business council and confirmed that Egyptian companies are ready to engage in development projects outlined in Oman’s Vision 2040. A significant proposal included enhancing collaboration between the Suez Canal Economic Zone and the Duqm Special Economic Zone Authority in maritime transport and logistics.
