The Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) in Oman has officially become a member of the World Free Zones Organization (World FZO), an entity committed to the advancement and support of free and economic zones globally.
This membership aligns seamlessly with the Authority’s continuous efforts to bolster the competitiveness of the special economic zones, free zones, and industrial cities under its jurisdiction. It paves the way for promoting these areas internationally as prime investment destinations, distinguished by their flexibility, readiness, and state-of-the-art infrastructure, showcasing Oman’s dedication to enhancing the global footprint of its economic zones, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.

Attracting high-quality investments
By joining the World FZO, the Authority aspires to foster greater opportunities for knowledge sharing and the implementation of best practices with esteemed international partners. Additionally, it aims to enhance operational efficiency, refine promotional and marketing strategies, and bolster initiatives to attract high-quality investments and projects that deliver significant added value.
Through this international collaboration, the Authority plans to broaden its economic network and capitalize on global trends concerning the management and development of special economic zones, free zones, and industrial cities.
It is noteworthy that Oman currently has 23 operational special economic, free, and industrial zones, with cumulative investments anticipated to reach approximately RO 21 billion by the end of 2024.
The World Free Zones Organization comprises over 1,600 zones and economic institutions from more than 140 countries.
