Oman: Passenger traffic at Sultanate’s airports surpasses 2.5 million by February

The total number of passengers traveling through the airports of the Sultanate of Oman by the end of February 2025 reached 2,535,246. Meanwhile, the total number of flights arriving and departing from the airports of Oman by this time reached 16,705 flights, according to preliminary statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The number of passengers traveling through Muscat International Airport by the end of February 2025 was 2,280,280, compared to 2,463,856 passengers during the same period in 2024, reflecting a decrease of 7.5 percent. The number of flights at Muscat International Airport by the end of February 2025 reached 15,133 flights, a decline of 11 percent compared to 16,996 flights in the same period last year.

Omani nationals comprised the largest group of passengers at Muscat International Airport by the end of February 2025, with 82,244 arrivals and 62,816 departures. They were followed by Indian nationals, with 75,510 incoming passengers and 70,908 departing passengers, and Pakistani nationals, who accounted for 24,876 arriving passengers and 22,905 departing passengers, Oman News Agency reported.

Salalah Airport passenger surge

The number of passengers traveling through Salalah Airport reached 244,950, marking an increase of 5.4 percent compared to 232,077 passengers in the same period of 2024. These passengers traveled on board 1,444 flights, a decrease of 8.1 percent from 1,572 flights during the same period last year.

Decline in Suhar Airport flights and passengers

Suhar Airport experienced a significant decrease in the number of flights, dropping by 74.5 percent by the end of February 2025, with only 28 flights compared to 110 flights in the same period the previous year. The total number of passengers also fell dramatically by 98 percent, reaching just 226 passengers compared to 11,410 passengers by the end of February 2024.

Duqm Airport flight and passenger changes

Duqm Airport experienced a decline of 3.8 percent in the number of flights by the end of February 2025, recording 100 flights compared to 104 flights during the same period of the previous year. The number of passengers also decreased by 3.3 percent, totaling 10,150 passengers compared to 10,492 passengers by the end of February 2024.
