Oman’s inflation rises 0.8 percent in July as transport, service costs increase

Inflation in the Sultanate of Oman recorded an increase of 0.8 percent in July 2025 compared to the same month in 2024, using 2018 as the base year.

Consumer price data released by the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that prices for the Miscellaneous Goods and Services group led the list of categories with the highest increase at 6.5 percent. This was followed by the Transport group at 4 percent, then the Restaurants and Hotels group at 2.5 percent.

The Health group also recorded an increase of 0.8 percent, while prices for the Clothing and Footwear group rose by 0.4 percent and the Education group by 0.1 percent.

Price declines seen in key groups

Despite the rise in inflation, Oman saw a decline in prices across several categories, including the Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages group, which decreased by 1.4 percent. The Culture and Recreation group declined by 0.2 percent, and the Furnishings, Household Equipment, and Routine Maintenance group decreased by 0.1 percent.

Meanwhile, prices for the Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas, and Other Fuels group, the Communications group, and the Tobacco group remained stable without recording any significant change.

The average inflation rate for the Miscellaneous Goods and Services group in Oman during the period from January to July 2025 was about 6.2 percent.

A’Dakhiliyah Governorate records highest inflation rate

At the governorate level, the data showed that A’Dakhiliyah Governorate recorded the highest inflation rate across Oman by the end of July 2025 compared to the same period the previous year, with an inflation rate of 1.4 percent. It was followed by A’Dhahirah Governorate at 1.3 percent, then Musandam Governorate at 1.0 percent.

The inflation rate in both South A’Sharqiyah Governorate and Muscat Governorate reached 0.8 percent. Meanwhile, Al Buraimi Governorate recorded 0.7 percent, while Al Wusta, North Al Batinah and South Al Batinah governorates each recorded 0.4 percent. Dhofar Governorate registered an inflation rate of 0.2 percent, while no price changes were recorded in North A’Sharqiyah Governorate.
