Kuwait’s fully operational Al-Zour refinery has reached an output of 615,000 barrels per day (bpd), ranking it the 7th largest oil refinery globally based on daily capacity. Al-Zour refinery stands among the region’s most impactful oil projects and a cornerstone of the state-run Kuwait Petroleum Corporation‘s (KPC) future plans and strategies that aim to raise the country’s oil refining capacity.
Al-Zour refinery’s daily output includes around 86,000 bpd of premium naphtha, 99,000 bpd of jet fuel, and 147,000 bpd of low-sulfur diesel. Moreover, it aligns with Kuwait’s commitment to environmental sustainability goals by keeping carbon emissions in check.
With the refinery being fully operational, it will now be able to boost Kuwait’s competitiveness in the global market through its production of oil products with premium quality. Commenting on the Al-Zour refinery’s operations, KPC chief executive Sheikh Nawaf Al-Sabah said the nation will now “reap the benefits” of the facility, including a sharp rise in Kuwait’s crude oil exports.

For his part, Wadha Al-Khatib, acting chief executive of KPC affiliate Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company, said that the Al-Zour refinery would “usher in a new era” in Kuwait’s oil industry. Moreover, it is a “launchpad” for greater output capacity in line with environmental safety standards.
More than 30 countries across the world have become the beneficiaries of the rise in Kuwait’s oil exports. Moreover, Al-Zour refinery boosts the country’s total refining capacity from 800,000 bpd to over 1.415 million bpd per day.
