PureHealth, the largest healthcare platform in the Middle East, has contributed AED1 billion ($272.2 million) through local procurement to support the National ICV Program since the first quarter of 2023. The UAE’s National ICV Program is one of the main drivers behind the country’s national industrial strategy, which aims to raise the industrial sector’s contribution to the gross domestic product (GDP) to AED300 billion by 2031.

During the Make it in the Emirates Forum, PureHealth revealed its progress towards its AED13 billion target in local procurement by 2032. The company has solidified its role as a major national player in the UAE’s economic and social development. Hence, it provides offtakes to support local healthcare manufacturing capabilities while creating local employment opportunities and delivering world-class health services.

PureHealth’s contributions

After the agreement with the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) to join the National ICV Program in 2022, the company has made significant strides. At first, PureHealth committed AED10 billion to local procurement by 2032. In 2023, the company raised its commitment by 30 percent to AED13 billion.

“This initiative plays a vital role in enhancing and empowering the growth and competitiveness of the industrial and advanced technology sectors, and supporting investors in the country, in line with the ministry’s objectives to create an attractive environment for both local and international investment,” commented Omar Al Suwaidi, undersecretary of MoIAT, during the forum.

The company has effectively implemented ICV strategies across its operations including its subsidies like Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), Rafed, and Daman, further strengthening its ICV framework efforts.

In August 2023, SEHA achieved an ICV score of 79.1 percent, the highest among UAE healthcare companies, reiterating PureHealth’s leadership in the sector. In addition, Daman, another PureHealth subsidy, also achieved an impressive ICV score of 71.83 percent.

For her part, Shaista Asif, group CEO of PureHealth, said: “PureHealth is a committed member of the National ICV Programme in line with our support for the objectives of Operation 300bn as well as the UAE’s efforts to create a world-leading healthcare system.”

In 2023, the National ICV Program witnessed remarkable growth, redirecting AED67 billion into the national economy. In addition, it expanded purchasing opportunities to include 1,400 products with a value of AED120 billion. During the Make in the Emirates Forum, the UAE enhanced its new purchasing opportunities and saw multiple announcements in the sector.

“By directing additional resources from the government and private sector to the national economy, the ICV program stimulates economic growth, thus enhancing investment attractiveness in the industrial sector, especially in priority industries such as health care,” added Al Suwaidi.
