Qatar Airways and China Southern Airlines have announced the next phase of their comprehensive partnership, which includes a codeshare agreement, with a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that seeks to enhance travel options and convenience for passengers. The MoU also sets a framework for both airlines to boost their market presence and collaborate in cargo and their frequent flyer programs.
Qatar Airways group CEO Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer and China Southern Airlines president and CEO Han Wensheng signed the agreement.
Enhanced aviation network
Following the success of the new route from Doha to Guangzhou, Qatar Airways aims to further expand its network in collaboration with China Southern Airlines to offer more choices to both airline passengers. “It is a proud milestone for us to serve the prominent Chinese market in collaboration with our key partner, and look forward to extending our award-winning offerings to travelers flying through China,” commented Al-Meer.
For his part, Wensheng stated: “China Southern Airlines launched a direct route from Guangzhou to Doha in April, which has strongly promoted the connectivity between China and countries and regions along the ‘Belt and Road Initiative’.” Wensheng added that China Southern Airlines aims to deepen cooperation with Qatar Airways in the future, strengthen complementary advantages, and work on providing more comfortable and convenient travel experiences to passengers of both airlines.
Frequent flyer benefits boosted
Qatar Airways and China Southern will also collaborate on providing their respective Privilege Club and Sky Pearl Club members with frequent flyer benefits.
