Qatar said that visitor visas will be temporarily suspended during the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which is set to kick off on Nov. 20.

The Qatari Interior Ministry announced on Twitter that only people who have a Hayya Card will be allowed entry between Nov. 1 and Dec. 23 via air, land, or sea.

As an entry permit to Qatar and its stadiums during the football tournament, the Hayya Card, which is run by Qatar, is required for all fans who want to attend World Cup matches. To watch the games at the venues, the cardholders must also have their match tickets.

Holders of Hayya Cards may stay in Qatar until January 23, 2023, according to the ministry.

In May, the mandatory Hayya Card was digitalized to serve as the gateway permit for all citizens, residents, and fans from abroad.

Moreover, entry to Qatar is not suspended for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nationals with Qatari ID cards, Qatari citizens, residents, personal recruitment visas, work entry permits, or humanitarian cases through airports.
