Ramadan 2025: Ajman announces full remote work for government employees on Fridays

The initiative, spearheaded by H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of Ajman Executive Council, is in line with the UAE's "Year of Community" initiatives.

The Department of Human Resources of the Ajman Government has revealed a 100 percent remote work policy for all local government employees on Fridays during Ramadan.

The initiative, spearheaded by H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of Ajman Executive Council, is in line with the UAE’s “Year of Community” initiatives.

According to a circular released by the department, official working hours throughout Ramadan will be from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m, Monday to Thursday, and from 9:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Fridays.

The circular provides government entities with the flexibility to implement the remote work policy in accordance with the Ajman Government’s regulations, thereby ensuring business continuity and seamless service delivery.

Working hours for shift-based departments

For departments operating on a shift basis, working hours will be established based on operational requirements, with a maximum shift duration of five and a half hours per day.

The circular permits a flexible work system at the discretion of the Director-General, ensuring that employees fulfill the necessary hours while maintaining sufficient staffing in customer-facing units for optimal service efficiency.
