Red Sea Global (RSG), the developer behind one of the world’s most ambitious regenerative tourism initiatives, recently celebrated the inaugural flynas flight from Dammam’s King Fahd International Airport to Red Sea International Airport (RSI). This marks the first direct link between the Eastern Region and the Red Sea destination.

New flight schedule and connectivity

flynas will operate flights on this route twice weekly, on Thursdays and Saturdays, catering not only to the Red Sea destination but also to its neighboring areas. This new service complements the existing flights from Riyadh and Jeddah, enhancing connectivity between the Red Sea and the wider Kingdom.

Strategic location and accessibility

Strategically located, RSI is within a three-hour flight for 250 million people and an eight-hour flight for 85 percent of the global population. Since September 2023, The Red Sea destination has been welcoming visitors to five of its premier resorts, with regular domestic flights already servicing RSI. In 2024, RSI achieved another milestone by welcoming its first international flight from Dubai International Airport.

Commitment to renewable energy

Once fully operational, RSI will be powered entirely by renewable energy drawn from the destination’s vast solar farms, which include 760,500 photovoltaic (PV) panels and one of the world’s largest off-grid Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Currently, all airside operations, including essential infrastructure such as Airfield Ground Lighting, the Instrument Landing System, the meteorological building, and various mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, are already exclusively powered by renewable energy.

Future development plans

Upon the project’s completion in 2030, The Red Sea destination will feature 50 resorts, offering up to 8,000 hotel rooms and more than 1,000 residential units across 22 islands and six inland sites. Additionally, it will boast luxury marinas, golf courses, a wide variety of dining establishments, and entertainment amenities.
