Riyadh Muawad, group chief business officer at stc Group

Economy Middle East speaks to Riyadh Muawad, group chief business officer at stc Group, about the company’s participation in LEAP 2024 which recently took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Riyadh Muawad shed light on stc’s solutions and innovations that it showcased in the digital industrial campus, health tech campus, and the small cities campus. He also highlighted some of the innovations stc demonstrated, including 360 cameras, virtual clinics, and connectivity and cyber security solutions. Finally, Muawad also highlighted stc Group’s collaboration with Diriyah, where stc plays a strategic role as a digital enabler.

This is stc’s third year participating at LEAP. What are you showcasing in terms of solutions and innovations?

This year we decided to go with a use-case theme. So we’re covering digital stadiums, digital manufacturing, digital industrial campus, health tech, and the small cities component. This showcases all our backend capabilities in terms of technology. We’re talking about internet connectivity, 5G connectivity, cloud solutions, IoT, cyber security, system integration, and the rest of the stc Group capabilities.

You mentioned the digital stadium and health tech. Could you expand on those two subjects a little more?

These are the dearest to my heart for this year. We’re very excited to be leading in the digital stadium offering. This year we’re presenting a comprehensive end-to-end solution for the new stadiums that are coming up, starting with improving the connectivity that we have today in the stadium, to introducing new services to enhance the fan experience at large. Moreover, we are improving the operational experience for the teams and the agencies that are overseeing the stadiums and providing services to the fans.

We’re hoping to provide a state-of-the-art technology that matches whatever there is globally and even beyond. When it comes to digital solutions, we are talking about using 360 cameras, solutions for the differently-abled, and advanced virtual clinics to support fans in overpopulated games.

Health tech is something that we have been experiencing over the past seven years.

We have transformed heavily in terms of the diverse portfolio of healthcare or health tech services we provide. This year, particularly, we are showcasing the use of AI in medical precision and decision-making. We’re trying to use and leverage our capability through AI, different use cases, virtual clinics, and home kits.

Therefore, we’re trying to cover the whole consumer base and business base with health tech solutions at their home or at their businesses to enable more reach to the healthcare systems.

Riyadh Muawad

stc is heavily involved in the Diriyah megaproject. Could you shed more light on what you’re doing there? What innovations are you bringing?

Diriyah is very special. We’re proud that Diriyah has agreed to co-brand their name with stc. We have signed a very strategic partnership that was announced almost three months ago. stc has been assigned as the strategic partner for Diriyah as a digital enabler.

So, we’re taking care of the whole layers of technology, starting from the back-end infrastructure up to the cloud layer and everything in between. We’re happy and proud again with this partnership. Diriyah wants to be the state-of-the-art city in terms of technology. They want to provide the best and latest services to residents and visitors.

stc equips them with these services while they focus on their core services and the construction that is going on.
