Based on the 2023 report from the World Economic Forum (WEF), Saudi Arabia has made impressive strides in the Road Quality Index (RQI), attaining a score of 5.7. Among the G20 nations, this positions the Kingdom in fourth place. The RQI is an assessment of road network quality, playing a crucial role in ensuring user safety, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, Saudi minister of Transport and Logistics Services, attributes this accomplishment to the unwavering support of the leadership and the diligent efforts made to maintain the Kingdom’s global leadership in road network connectivity. These efforts include enhancing road quality, improving operational efficiency, ensuring safety, and striving to achieve the ambitious targets outlined in the national transport and logistics services strategy, as part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.

Badr bin Abdullah Aldulami, acting CEO of the Roads General Authority (RGA), highlighted the significant progress made in the road sector in 2023, which contributed to this achievement. The RGA stated that the WEF report showcases a substantial leap in the Kingdom’s RQI, rising from 5.2 to 5.7. This represents a growth rate exceeding 10 percent, the highest among the G20 countries.
