Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is set to roll out the ‘Winter Seasonal Network’ operational schedule for its maritime transport services. This initiative harnesses big data to assess daily passenger behaviors and synchronize them with trip schedules and service frequencies, catering to various seasons and events.
Comprehensive coverage of maritime services
This initiative, Dubai Media Office reported, encompasses all maritime transport services and routes, including Dubai Ferry, Abra, and Dubai Water Taxi. The operational hours will be tailored to reflect seasonal variations. They will also consider the movement patterns of residents, tourists, and visitors throughout the year. Leveraging big data for operational efficiency
The RTA has initiated this winter strategy by utilizing big data. This data offers comprehensive insights into marine transport services. It includes information on passenger volumes, revenue streams, and detailed occupancy statistics. These insights enrich service development studies and significantly enhance network efficiency.
Enhancing flexibility through data analysis
By analyzing patterns in marine transport usage, the incorporation of big data allows for increased flexibility in the preparation and execution of the seasonal network initiative. In addition, the established operational methodology includes predictive analytics to examine network data and forecast the effects of adjustments, flexible schedules, and trip frequencies on passenger numbers, occupancy rates, revenue, and ridership.
Development of a flexible operational strategy
This initiative is designed to ensure service sustainability. It also aims to address customer needs. It also seeks to enhance the occupancy rates of maritime transport and reduce operational costs.
