Saudi Arabia made a significant mark on the global aviation stage as a high-level delegation, led by General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) president Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, as the kingdom participated in the prestigious Changi Aviation Summit 2024 and the Singapore Airshow on February 19 and 20.

GACA’s participation in these prominent events underscores Saudi Arabia’s commitment to realizing the ambitious goals of Saudi Vision 2030. The delegation’s presence aimed to foster an environment conducive to growth and innovation within the aviation sector. Moreover, it solidified the Kingdom’s position as a key global hub linking Asia, Africa, and Europe.

National Aviation Strategy

Saudi Arabia’s participation falls within the framework of Vision 2030’s National Aviation Strategy. This strategy seeks to transform the Kingdom into a global aviation center and enhance international cooperation in the field of air transport. It also provides a positive system for investors interested in collaboration with the vital aviation sector.

Saudi Arabia has designated $100 billion in investments for the aviation sector under the strategy. Hence, it envisions accommodating 330 million passengers by 2030, thereby bolstering its position as a global aviation leader.

Strengthening bilateral relations

On the sidelines of the summit, Al-Duailej engaged in fruitful discussions with Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat. The meeting served as a platform to review the robust ties between Saudi Arabia and Singapore and explore avenues for deepening cooperation in civil aviation.

In addition, Al-Duailej seized the opportunity to connect with foreign officials representing regional organizations and the civil aviation industry. These interactions furthered the Kingdom’s objective of fostering collaboration on a broader scale. Moreover, they promoted dialogue and the exchange of best practices to enhance aviation standards across the region.

As Saudi Arabia continues its journey towards becoming a global aviation powerhouse, platforms like the Changi Aviation Summit serve as catalysts for progress. By leveraging strategic partnerships, embracing innovation, and prioritizing excellence, the Kingdom is poised to shape the future of air travel while contributing to regional and global connectivity.
