Saudi, Qatar, and Oman top travel destination searches from UAE

Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman topped the travel destination searches from the UAE during the week of half term holidays, according to the metasearch engine and travel agency Skyscanner.

Searches for Saudi witnessed a 494 percent increase compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, Qatar and Oman saw an upsurge of 626 percent and 231 percent respectively compared to 2022.

Skyscanner also highlighted the top ten countries in terms of international travel searches from the UAE.

The following are the top ten international travel searches:

  1. India (+292 percent increase compared to the previous year)
  2. Pakistan (+246 percent increase compared to the previous year)
  3. United Kingdom (+178 percent increase compared to the previous year)
  4. Egypt (+238 percent increase compared to the previous year)
  5. Thailand (+522 percent increase compared to the previous year)
  6. Philippines (-16 percent decrease compared to the previous year)
  7. Maldives (+569 percent increase compared to the previous year)
  8. Italy (+103 percent increase compared to the previous year)
  9. Germany (+143 percent increase compared to the previous year)
  10. United States (+162 percent increase compared to the previous year)

Flight bookings

 

The report further revealed that flight bookings made more than 30 days before departure in February 2023 are up 7 percent compared to 2022, whilst flight bookings made less than 30 days before departure are down 6 percent from the previous year.
