The service aims to attract investment and reduce bureaucracy in Sharjah’s business landscape.

Initiating a business in Sharjah has just gotten much easier. The Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) has launched a new “Instant License” service, enabling entrepreneurs to secure a commercial license in just one working day. This initiative removes the requirement for a Memorandum of Association or a signed lease contract during the first year, streamlining the process of starting a business in the emirate.

The Sharjah Executive Council has approved this service to attract investment, reduce bureaucracy, and support the emirate’s goal of fostering a more dynamic and competitive economy, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.

The license is available for office-based businesses that do not require external approvals from other government departments.

The Instant License is a fast-approval licensing program that enables entrepreneurs to secure a commercial license within one working day. Under this program, investors can begin operations immediately and hire up to three workers under each license.

However, after the first year, businesses must fulfill the standard licensing requirements to continue operating legally. SEDD stated that this initiative also aims to curb unlicensed business activity by providing a quick and legal alternative. It is anticipated to give new entrepreneurs and expanding companies a head start, particularly in sectors aligned with Sharjah’s economic objectives.

Enhancing business accessibility

Hamad Ali Abdalla Al Mahmoud, chairman of SEDD, noted that the department is committed to creating a flexible and supportive regulatory environment.

He emphasized that this service reflects the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, as well as the efforts of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council.

“This service reflects Sharjah’s commitment to making business easier and more accessible,” Al Mahmoud stated. “We want to attract investors, support entrepreneurs, and ensure Sharjah remains a leading destination for economic development both regionally and globally.”
