As the curtains close on the 34th edition of the Sharjah Ramadan Festival, the emirate celebrates a resounding success in rejuvenating its retail sector and fostering a vibrant atmosphere of entertainment and commerce. This year’s festival exceeded sales volume expectations, generating a record-breaking AED400 million ($109 million) and achieving a growth rate of 25 percent.

Organized by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), the Sharjah Ramadan Festival 2024, spanning 37 days, captivated residents and visitors alike with its array of offerings, promotions, and activities. The festival, which ran from March 8 to April 13, saw a surge in retail activity across Sharjah’s malls, commercial centers and entertainment destinations. Discounts of up to 75 percent for both local and international brands greatly contributed to the surge in sales.

Visitor surge

During Eid Al Fitr, the Sharjah Ramadan Festival saw a huge influx of visitors who visited major shopping centers and entertainment events. Visitors eagerly engaged in raffle draws, winning prizes worth up to AED1 million from the Sharjah Chamber in collaboration with the participating shopping centers.

Moreover, visitors benefitted from the extensive range of offers that the Sharjah Ramadan Festival showcased encompassing destinations, hotels and tourist attractions.

For his part, Mohammad Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, director-general of SCCI, reiterated the chamber’s commitment to supporting the growth of the Sharjah Ramadan Festival. Hence, this success further positions Sharjah as one of the vital emirates leading commercial and tourism activity. Moreover, the Sharjah Ramadan Festival aligns with the chamber’s strategy to stimulate and diversify the emirate’s economy, promote innovative branding practices, and bolster support for local businesses and entrepreneurs.

Collaborative efforts drive growth

Ibrahim Rashid Al Jarwan, director of economic relations and marketing at SCCI, and general coordinator of the festival, attributes the success of the Sharjah Ramadan Festival to the collaborative efforts and partnerships with strategic partners, major sponsors, governmental entities and the private sector.
