In his capacity as the Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, issued Executive Council Resolution No. (90) of 2024, appointing Moaza Saeed Al Marri as CEO of the Executive Affairs Sector at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai.
According to Dubai Media Office, this Resolution is effective from the date of its issuance and will be published in the Official Gazette.
Sheikh Hamdan issues decision appointing CEO of Strategy and Corporate Governance at RTA
In September, H.H.Sheikh Hamdan issued Decision No. (61) of 2024 appointing Muna Abdulrahman Salah Abdulrahman Alosaimi as the CEO of Strategy and Corporate Governance at RTA.
Earlier in September, Sheikh Hamdan issued several decisions concerning the appointment of new CEOs for various Dubai government entities.
Issam Abdulrahim Kazim has been named CEO of the Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing, while Mohammed Abdullah Shael AlSaadi has been appointed CEO of the Dubai Corporation for Consumer Protection and Fair Trade.
Additionally, Essa Harab Khalifa bin Hadher will serve as CEO of the Economic Strategy Sector at the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism. Sahia Sajjad Ahmed has been appointed CEO of Regulatory Policy and Governance at the same department, with Saad Mohammed Al Awadhi taking on the role of CEO of Corporate Support Services.
Khaled Hassan Mohammed Mubasheri has been appointed CEO of the Legislation and Disputes Sector at the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism.
These appointments are effective from April 1, 2024, and will be published in the official gazette. Additionally, Sheikh Hamdan has appointed Yousuf Ahmed Yousuf Abdullah Lootah as CEO of Strategy and Corporate Performance at the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, effective from October 1, 2024.
Sheikh Hamdan reviews RTA’s $4.35 billion 2024-2027 Main Roads Development Plan
Earlier in November, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan assessed the innovative initiatives undertaken by RTA to enhance urban mobility and infrastructure.
Among these initiatives is the AED16 billion ($4.35 billion) Main Roads Development Plan for 2024-2027, which will introduce 22 projects throughout Dubai’s growing road network. This plan aims to benefit over 6 million residents and align with Dubai’s extensive development objectives.
During the review, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed examined various projects related to autonomous transport and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in traffic management, all designed to improve mobility within Dubai. He was joined by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Omar Sultan Al Olama, UAE minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, and Abdulla Al Basti, secretary-general of The Executive Council of Dubai. They were welcomed by Mattar Al Tayer, director-general and chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, along with several senior officials from the RTA.
Rise in public transport usage
Sheikh Hamdan reviewed a presentation that showcased the rise in public transport users, which currently accommodates 2.2 million riders daily. The presentation also highlighted the evolution of the road network, bridges, and cycling paths in Dubai from 2006 to the present. The road network has expanded from 8,715 lane-kilometers to 18,990 lane-kilometers, reflecting a remarkable 117 percent increase.
Additionally, the number of lanes across Dubai Creek has increased from 16 to 61, a significant 281 percent rise. The construction of vehicle bridges and tunnels has surged from 129 to 1,070, marking a staggering 729 percent increase. Pedestrian bridges and tunnels also saw growth, rising from 26 to 129, which includes structures associated with the Dubai Metro and Dubai Tram, equating to a 396 percent increase. Cycling tracks have been extended from 9 km to an impressive 557 km, representing an extraordinary 6,088 percent growth.
