His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, visited the Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi. Sheikh Mohammed stated that the UAE continues to position itself as a key hub for international travel, with a robust and reliable infrastructure. He also commended the efforts of the team of national professionals who work to maintain the airport’s seamless operations.

During his visit to the airport, Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the UAE’s leadership in various sectors. Due to its unique capabilities and strategic advantages, the UAE positions itself as a leader in sustainable development.

Airport transforms Abu Dhabi into aviation hub

With Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed toured the Zayed International Airport, which has the capabilities to become one of the world’s largest airports.

The airport spans 742,000 square meters and has the capacity to handle up to 45 million passengers per year. Sheikh Mohammed also explored the airport’s advanced infrastructure and solutions. Notably, the airport was renamed this year to pay tribute to the legacy of the UAE’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed.

Terminal A’s strategic importance

During the visit, Sheikh Mohammed toured Etihad Airways’ First-Class Lounge and Terminal A, which has a handling capacity of 79 planes at once and 11,000 passengers per hour. Terminal A has played a major role in positioning Abu Dhabi as a global aviation hub with its sustainability track record and seamless experience.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, chairman of Dubai Airports, and chairman and chief executive of Emirates Airline and Group accompanied Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid during his visit to the Zayed International Airport. Moreover, Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Ports and Borders Security Council; and Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Advisor of Special Affairs at the Presidential Court and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Airports, and a number of senior officials joined the tour.
