His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, visited the Dubai International Airport to take a tour of the new A350 that has joined the Emirates fleet.
In a video shared online, Sheikh Mohammed can be seen walking along the aisle as he tours the plane and explores the latest offerings of the new aircraft, which is set to enter commercial service in January with a flight to Edinburgh.
In the video, Sheikh Mohammed is accompanied by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman and chief executive of Emirates airline and group, and chairman of Dubai Airports.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, and Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, are also present during the tour.
New destinations
Apart from the service to Edinburgh on January 3, 2025, the Emirates A350 roll out to eight other destinations including Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kuwait, Bahrain, Colombo, Lyon, Muscat and Bologna, with more destinations to follow.
The airline marked an important fleet milestone on Monday with the delivery of the first Airbus A350 aircraft. A6-EXA is the first of 65 A350 aircraft to be delivered to the airline over the course of the next few years. Moreover, the delivery also marks the first new aircraft type to join the Emirates fleet since 2008.
The aircraft was officially handed over on Monday morning to Emirates.
The A350
Emirates has so far placed orders for 65 A350-900 aircraft. The A350-900 can accommodate 300-350 passengers in a standard three-class configuration. It flies efficiently on everything from short-range segments to ultra-long-range routes of up to 9,700nm (18,000km) non-stop.
The Emirates A350 aircraft offers three cabin classes, 32 next-generation business class seats, 21 premium economy seats, and 259 economy class seats. All of these aircraft will serve short to medium-haul cities on the airline’s network, with Bahrain as the inaugural destination.
Emirates currently operates a full fleet of wide-body aircraft, consisting of Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft.
