Qatar Aviation Services (QAS), in partnership with MATAR and Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP), a member of Qatar Foundation, has initiated a groundbreaking project to test the latest autonomous transportation solutions at Hamad International Airport (DOH). This initiative represents a pioneering effort in the region’s airside operations.

The proof-of-concept trials, which began with the initial autonomous staff bus testing on Sunday, will incorporate state-of-the-art autonomous vehicles. These include an autonomous bus and an autonomous baggage tractor. Designed with advanced technologies such as GPS, AI-driven systems, and a variety of intelligent sensors and lidars, these vehicles aim to improve operational safety and efficiency. Their features allow for 24/7 operations in various weather conditions, real-time monitoring, and automated charging systems.
