The Emirates ID is a crucial document for all UAE residents, whether citizens or expats. The ID is valid for a one or two years, or even five or 10 years depending on the type of residence visa.

Having a valid Emirates ID is important as it’s a prerequisite for almost all major services in the UAE, such as opening a bank account, renting a property, getting a phone connection, etc. It’s also important for travelling to select destinations that offer visa-on-arrival facility for Emirates ID holders. Therefore, it’s important to ensure that the ID is always valid.

An expired Emirates ID could result in disruption of services such as bank accounts and telephone numbers. Moreover, it could result in fines if not renewed within the grace period.
