The UAE has established a new Ministry of Foreign Trade, which will be headed by Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, the current Minister of State for Foreign Trade.
The announcement was made on Friday by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Notably, the UAE is now the only country in the Middle East region with a standalone Ministry of Foreign Trade, highlighting the sector’s importance to the country’s economy.
“After consulting the President of the State, and after his approval, we announce today some changes in the UAE government,” Sheikh Mohammed said on social media platform X.
Sheikh Mohammed added that the name of the UAE’s Ministry of Economy was changed to the Ministry of Economy and Tourism. This ministry will remain headed by H.E. Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, the current Minister of Economy.
“The National Artificial Intelligence System will be adopted as an advisory member of the Cabinet, the Ministerial Development Council, and all boards of directors of federal entities and government companies, starting in January 2026,” the Dubai Ruler added.
This move aims to support decision-making in these councils, conduct immediate analyses of their decisions, provide technical advice and enhance the efficiency of government policies adopted by these councils across all sectors.
“The world is going through a comprehensive restructuring phase… scientifically, economically and socially… and our goal is to prepare today for the coming decades… Our goal is to ensure continued prosperity and a decent life for future generations…,” Sheikh Mohammed concluded.
