Korea's President reaffirmed his commitment to bolstering bilateral ties and expanding opportunities for cooperation between the two nations

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received today a phone call from the President of the Republic of Korea, His Excellency Lee Jae-myung. The two leaders discussed ways to enhance cooperation across various fields, particularly in the areas of economy, investment, energy, education, defense, technology and sustainability.

The discussions took place as part of the special strategic partnership between the UAE and the Republic of Korea, reflecting the two countries’ shared interests and development-focused ambitions for the present and future.

UAE, Korea seek stronger bilateral ties

During the call, Sheikh Mohamed congratulated His Excellency Lee Jae-myung on assuming office, wishing him success in leading his country towards further progress and growth. He also expressed his keenness to work closely with His Excellency Lee Jae-myung to continue strengthening UAE-Korea relations and advancing the objectives of their special strategic partnership in support of joint development and the prosperity of both nations and their peoples.

In addition, the call addressed a range of regional and international issues of mutual concern, with a focus on the importance of supporting efforts to promote peace, stability and development in the Middle East for the benefit of all its peoples. For his part, Korea’s President thanked Sheikh Mohamed for his warm congratulations and sincere sentiments towards the Republic of Korea and its people, reaffirming his commitment to bolstering bilateral ties and expanding opportunities for cooperation between the two nations.

UAE President seeks investments from Korean private sector

In May 2024, the UAE President met with two business delegations comprising major Korean companies and entrepreneurs as part of his state visit to the Republic of Korea. His Highness engaged in conversation with the Korean delegations about the growth of their companies and listened to them discuss the various industries in which they are involved, the innovative ideas and products they offer and the key challenges they face.

During the meeting, Sheikh Mohamed discussed the growing economic, investment and trade relations between the UAE and the Republic of Korea. He emphasised the role of companies and the business community in both countries in enhancing these ties, particularly through joint projects and investments. He also noted that the UAE is keen to attract investments by providing a supportive environment through robust infrastructure and favorable regulations. He added that the UAE’s geographical location makes it a commercial gateway to the Middle East.

Sheikh Mohamed also emphasised that the agreements signed between the UAE and the Republic of Korea during the visit will pave the way for additional opportunities for companies and entrepreneurs in both countries to collaborate and invest, heralding a new era in economic relations.
