The UAE and Kuwait have recently signed several agreements aimed at strengthening their bilateral relations during the fifth session of the joint supreme committee.
These agreements include a memorandum of understanding on standardization activities, cooperation in infrastructure, and collaboration in communications and information technology.
Additionally, MoUs covered establishing the executive programs for educational cooperation (2024-2027), sports (2024-2026), and cultural cooperation (2024-2026). Other notable agreements included a memorandum of understanding on cybersecurity and one focused on procurement and defense industries.

The session took place in the Emirati capital, Abu Dhabi, with the Kuwaiti delegation led by Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya and the UAE delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed.
During the meeting, the two sides engaged in official talks to review various aspects of bilateral cooperation, highlighting development and growth across sectors that benefit both nations and their peoples.
Al-Yahya also discussed the historic ties between the two countries and explored ways to enhance these relations further.
Consistent trade growth
The UAE and Kuwait have established a strong economic alliance, highlighted by their increasing trade relations over the last decade. From 2013 to 2022, the total trade volume between the two nations reached an impressive AED317 billion ($86.31 billion). This total comprises AED63 billion in imports, AED85.5 billion in non-oil exports, and AED168.5 billion in re-exports.
Throughout the ten-year period, the trade exchange between the UAE and Kuwait experienced significant growth, soaring by 120.5 percent. In 2022 alone, the trade exchange hit AED44.1 billion, representing a rise of over 14.5 percent from the previous year. This increase included AED7.5 billion in imports, AED14.3 billion in non-oil exports, and AED22.3 billion in re-exports.
