These guidelines discourage spontaneous gatherings, require traffic law compliance, mandate following police orders, and ban party sprays for all

Dubai Police has called on the public to adhere to the guidelines for the 53rd Eid Al Etihad (UAE National Day) celebrations to promote a safe, organized, and enjoyable experience for everyone while mitigating potential risks or disruptions.

Prohibited activities

These guidelines advise against organizing or taking part in spontaneous marches and gatherings, emphasize compliance with all traffic laws, require following directives from police officers, and prohibit the use of party sprays by drivers, passengers, or pedestrians.

Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, acting assistant commandant for Operations Affairs and acting head of the Event Security Committee at Dubai Police, highlighted the necessity of keeping both the front and rear license plates of vehicles clearly visible and free from obstructions. He also cautioned against altering a vehicle’s color or tinting its windscreen.

Restrictions on vehicle modifications

Furthermore, Al Mazrouei stressed that no stickers, signs, or logos should be affixed to vehicles unless they are specifically designated for Eid Al Etihad and adhere to official guidelines and requirements. Al Mazrouei emphasized the ban on covering side, front, or rear windows with stickers, using sunshades that obstruct visibility, performing stunts on roads, and causing traffic obstructions.

Noise and passenger regulations

Moreover, Al Mazrouei added that vehicles should avoid unauthorized modifications or the addition of unlicensed features that produce excessive noise or impair visibility. Al Mazrouei underscored the importance of not exceeding the allowable number of passengers in a vehicle and prohibiting anyone from leaning out of windows or sunroofs. He noted that many of these violations fall under Decree No. 30 of 2023 regarding vehicle impoundment, which can result in fines of up to AED50,000 ($13,600) for the release of impounded vehicles.

He emphasized that traffic patrols will prioritize achieving optimal road safety, maintaining smooth traffic flow, and preventing congestion to ensure the comfort and safety of all road users.

Traffic management strategies

Additionally, Al Mazrouei indicated that the General Traffic Department of Dubai Police, in collaboration with both internal and external partners, has finalized traffic plans and scenarios to facilitate smooth movement and effectively secure the events, all while minimizing the risk of accidents and deterring violators.
