The UAE and Pakistan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Abu Dhabi. The deal aims to to enhance agricultural innovation and research, specifically focusing on the development and promotion of various aspects of Date Palm cultivation and the related industry.

According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the signing ceremony was witnessed by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, minister of Tolerance and Coexistence. Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE, and Dr. Abdelouahhab Zaid, secretary-general of the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, signed the MoU.
The agreement targets fostering joint cooperation and the exchange of expertise between the two countries. It will also provide Pakistani farmers with opportunities to expand date palm cultivation through innovative ideas.
Given the UAE’s expertise in this field, the country will offer technological support to Pakistan to enhance date palm cultivation. Pakistan’s diverse topography presents great potential in this sector. As part of the MoU, the First Pakistan International Date Palm Festival 2024 will also be organized.
Pakistan and the UAE share a fraternal relationship. They are involved in several mutually beneficial collaborative projects. These include political, economic, agricultural, cultural, and energy cooperation.
