Waleed Al Awadhi has over 22 years of distinguished expertise in financial services, regulatory frameworks, and banking operations.

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has appointed Waleed Saeed Abdul Salam Al Awadhi as the chief executive officer of the Securities and Commodities Authority, granting him the rank of under-secretary.

Career

Waleed Al Awadhi has over 22 years of distinguished expertise in financial services, regulatory frameworks, and banking operations. He has previously served as the chief operating officer at the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) and was the Deputy Head of Retail Banking at Emirates Islamic Bank.

Waleed Al Awadhi’s career also encompasses senior roles at Sama Dubai, a real estate development company, and at Etisalat, as well as membership on various national boards and committees across the UAE.

Education

Al Awadhi graduated from the Mohammed bin Rashid Programme for Leadership Development in 2020 and completed executive education at Harvard Business School in 2017. Additionally, he holds a Master’s degree in Law, specializing in arbitration, dispute resolution, financial crimes, and anti-money laundering, which reflects his commitment to excellence and innovation in his field.
