UAE President, King of Jordan discuss bilateral ties and regional developments in Abu Dhabi

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan welcomed His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Abu Dhabi. The two leaders engaged in discussions regarding their strong bilateral relations and cooperative efforts, particularly in developmental sectors and various fields aimed at boosting the comprehensive economic partnership between their nations at all levels.

A focus on regional challenges

This meeting, WAM reported, occurred during King Abdullah II’s visit to the UAE capital, part of a friendly trip to the country. Throughout their discussions, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan addressed several regional and international matters, with an emphasis on the current situations in the Middle East, including developments in Gaza and Lebanon. Both leaders highlighted the critical need to intensify efforts to achieve a ceasefire in these regions, ensuring the protection of civilians in line with international humanitarian standards, as well as delivering humanitarian aid to those impacted by the conflicts. They reaffirmed their unwavering support for Lebanon’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, expressing solidarity with the Lebanese people.

Ensuring peace and stability

The leaders stressed the necessity of preventing further escalation of conflict in the Middle East, recognizing the threat this poses to the region’s security and stability. They also underscored the importance of establishing a clear pathway towards a fair, comprehensive, and lasting peace, rooted in a two-state solution that ensures security and stability for all involved.

Commitment to ongoing dialogue

Furthermore, both parties reiterated their mutual commitment to ongoing fraternal consultations on matters of shared interest, particularly in light of the challenges currently facing the region.

Earlier on Wednesday, Jordan’s King Abdullah II arrived in the UAE, where he was warmly received at Al Bateen Airport by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, alongside His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Advisor for Special Affairs at the Ministry of Presidential Court, Humaid Obaid Abu Shabas, Chairman of the UAE Accountability Authority, Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority, and a number of senior officials.

Accompanying His Majesty King Abdullah II during his visit were His Excellency Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan, His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi, along with several senior officials.
