President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived in Moscow today on an official visit to the Russian Federation.

Upon his arrival at Vnukovo International Airport, an official reception ceremony was held for him, with the national anthems of both the UAE and Russia played and an honour guard assembled to welcome him.

During the visit, Sheikh Mohamed will hold talks with Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, focusing on various aspects of the bilateral relationship and ways to strengthen ties, particularly in the areas of economy, trade, investment, and energy, among others.

The UAE will hold these talks as part of the strategic partnership between the two countries and will also cover a range of regional and international issues of mutual concern.

BRICS summit

Sheikh Mohamed will also participate in the 16th BRICS Summit, which Russia will host in the city of Kazan on October 22-24. This will mark the UAE’s first participation in the summit as a member of BRICS.

This will be the first BRICS Summit in which the five new members joining the bloc this year will participate: Egypt, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Ethiopia.

During the summit, leaders will discuss global issues including the Middle East crisis, and political and financial operations within the bloc. They will also receive reports on the work of the New Development Bank (NDB), the BRICS Business Council, and the Women’s Business Alliance. In addition, they will discuss international cooperation issues towards sustainable and inclusive development.

His Highness is accompanied on this visit by a delegation that includes Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Adviser for Special Affairs at the Presidential Court; Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for National Security; Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology; Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade; Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State; Faisal Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Bannai, Adviser to the UAE President for Strategic Research and Advanced Technology Affairs; Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority; Mohamed Al Abbar, Chairman of Eagle Hills, and Dr. Mohammed Ahmed bin Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Ambassador to the Russian Federation.
