UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan welcomed today Slovenia’s President Dr. Nataša Pirc Musar who is on a visit to the UAE. During their meeting at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed expressed his pleasure to be meeting the Slovenian president and hoped that the visit would lead to greater cooperation between the two countries.
Greater economic cooperation
The two leaders discussed various aspects of UAE-Slovenia bilateral relations, with a focus on boosting economic, trade, investment, and development cooperation. They also explored opportunities in renewable energy, sustainability, and other fields that align with their mutual aspirations for progress and prosperity.
The discussions extended to regional and international issues of mutual concern, with both presidents affirming their countries’ commitment to seeking an end to hostilities in the Middle East, avoiding any escalation of the conflict, and supporting a two-state solution as a foundation for peace. They also stressed the importance of global peace and stability and the peaceful resolution of conflicts worldwide.
Fostering developmental partnerships
For his part, Sheikh Mohamed reiterated the UAE’s consistent approach of fostering partnerships that benefit and develop all, expressing his optimism for further growth in cooperation between the UAE and Slovenia.
Sheikh Mohamed also noted that diplomatic relations between the UAE and Slovenia commenced in 1992, just one year after Slovenia’s independence, reflecting both nations’ mutual commitment to collaboration for growth. He highlighted the vital role of the UAE-Slovenia Joint Economic Committee and the Political Consultations Committee in identifying and leveraging opportunities for cooperation across various fields.
Advancing prosperity and progress
Meanwhile, Slovenia’s president conveyed her keenness to advancing UAE-Slovenian relations in ways that support the interests of both nations and advance the aspirations of their peoples for prosperity and progress. She expressed her pleasure in visiting the UAE and her appreciation for the warm reception.
Present at the meeting were H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs; H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Adviser for Special Affairs at the Presidential Court; and Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemy, Minister of State for International Cooperation. The meeting also saw the participation of the delegation accompanying the President of Slovenia, which included a number of senior officials.

Comprehensive development and economic prosperity
Earlier this year, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, welcomed Tanja Fajon, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, to Abu Dhabi to discuss the strong ties of friendship between the two countries. The two top diplomats explored ways to further enhance bilateral cooperation in a range of areas that serve the mutual interests of both countries and their peoples.
The discussions focused on deepening joint cooperation in various vital sectors, including economy, trade, and investment. Sheikh Abdullah reaffirmed the strong relations between the UAE and Slovenia and their common commitment to utilizing all available opportunities to further strengthen these ties in support of the two countries’ plans to achieve comprehensive development and sustainable economic prosperity.
