The second UAE aid ship has arrived at Beirut Port, bringing with it 3,000 tons of relief supplies as part of the “UAE stands with Lebanon” campaign.

Upon its arrival, the UAE aid ship was received by Dr. Nasser Yassin, head of the Government Emergencies and Minister of Environment in the Republic of Lebanon. He was accompanied by Brigadier General Bassem Nabulsi, the Chairman of the Supreme Relief Authority, highlighting the collaborative efforts in receiving this vital support.

Additionally, the relief supplies transported by the UAE aid ship included a variety of food items, essential supplies for women and children, winter necessities, and shelter equipment. This comprehensive collection is aimed at addressing the immediate needs of those affected by the ongoing conflict.

Background of the UAE Stands with Lebanon campaign

This campaign was initiated in early October of the previous year, following the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The initiative has been closely monitored by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court. Additionally, it operates under the supervision of H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who serves as the Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Martyrs’ Families Affairs and Chairman of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council.

UAE’s commitment to humanitarian aid

Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, vice chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, emphasized the UAE’s moral obligation to urgently assist the Lebanese people impacted by the crisis. “This commitment emanates from the humanitarian legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in extending a helping hand to nations in distress,” he further remarked.

He also noted the UAE’s swift response to the situation in Lebanon, which is focused on facilitating early recovery and stabilization. This effort has been executed in partnership with Lebanese governmental bodies and relevant international organizations, reinforcing the UAE’s dedication through the “UAE stands with Lebanon” campaign.
