The UAE’s two-week aid campaign for Lebanon, titled “UAE Stands with Lebanon,” has raised over AED110 million ($29.9 million) in its first week to supply food, medical supplies, shelter equipment, and other relief materials.
The generous response from the UAE community, which includes individuals from around the globe, further reflects the compassionate spirit and enduring legacy of the UAE’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Launched under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and overseen by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, the campaign is also supervised by H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs, and Chair of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council.
In response to the ongoing crisis, the UAE has pledged immediate support to the Lebanese people, allocating $100 million in urgent aid and an additional $30 million for Lebanese refugees in Syria. Moreover, to date, 10 relief flights carrying 450 tons of aid materials have been dispatched.
