The Cybersecurity Council of the UAE Government has confirmed that the national cybersecurity systems have effectively responded to cyberattacks aimed at 634 government and private entities. These attacks targeted the leakage of data from critical and strategic sectors within the UAE and were managed using the best global practices in this essential field.
Dr. Mohamed AlKuwaiti, head of Cybersecurity for the UAE Government, informed the Emirates News Agency (WAM) that a threat actor known as “rose87168” asserted to have breached the Oracle Cloud’s SSO and LDAP systems, leading to the exposure of approximately six million customer records globally, which includes sensitive user password data.
He noted that estimates indicate around 140,000 entities across the globe may have been impacted by this breach, with 634 entities in the UAE specifically affected—30 of which are government entities, 13 are private, and the remainder fall into other categories.
The Cybersecurity Council clarified that emergency cybersystems have been activated throughout the country in collaboration with relevant authorities to protect the UAE’s cyberspace and enhance its defenses against any hacking attempts or threats.
