Violators will be able to regularise their status without incurring fines

The UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP) has announced a two-month grace period starting September 1, 2024, for residents in violation of the residency system.

During this period, violators can regularise their status or leave the country without incurring fines.

The federal authorities will be taking all necessary measures to implement this initiative, including waiver of fines or handling legal consequences.

The procedures for this amnesty will be announced soon, the authority said.

The initiative aims to provide violators with a new opportunity to regularise their status in accordance with the law, considering their circumstances, the authority said. It also reflects the UAE’s values of compassion and tolerance, the ICP added.
