Dubai-based logistics company DP World has announced the validation of its ambitious climate commitments by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The SBTi is a leading authority in advancing private sector efforts to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and mitigate the impacts of climate change.

In a statement, DP World outlined its plans to reduce its scope 1 GHG emissions by 42 percent by 2030, using 2022 as the base year. Additionally, the company has committed to a 62.2 percent reduction in scope 2 GHG emissions and a 28 percent reduction in absolute scope 3 GHG emissions within the same timeframe.

DP World has made notable progress in its sustainability strategy in recent years, reporting a 13 percent reduction in emissions since the 2022 base year. The new 42 percent reduction target and increased commitments on scope 3 emissions build upon these achievements.
