The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) was established in 2014. It manages the emirate’s roads, land and marine transport and integrated transport services, among others. It periodically constructs and manages the emirate’s road network, and builds bridges and tunnels as required. Most importantly, it formulates the general policy of the transport sector, proposes necessary strategic plans to implement them, carried out inspections of the sector, and sets professional license conditions, standards and regulations for transport activities in the emirate in coordination with competent authorities.
