ADNEC Group, a Modon Holding company, has received and redeemed its first International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-REC), marking a major step forward in its sustainability journey.

The certificates were produced by Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC), issued by the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, and governed by The International Tracking Standard Foundation, the global administrator of the I-REC system.

The I-REC certification confirms that, since November 2024, all electricity consumed by ADNEC Center Abu Dhabi has been sourced entirely from clean energy.

During this period, the venue hosted 166 exhibitions, conferences, and meetings, all powered exclusively by renewable sources.

The certification validates that over 13,700 MWh of electricity used by the venue between November 2024 and April 30, 2025, was generated from clean sources, resulting in zero carbon dioxide emissions from electricity consumption.

Humaid Al Dhaheri, managing director and group CEO of ADNEC Group, said: “This milestone underscores ADNEC Group’s commitment to sustainability and our dedication to utilizing clean and innovative solutions for the events industry.

“We are proud to support the UAE’s vision for a sustainable future and remain committed to achieving our net zero by 2045.”

The milestone, made possible through ADNEC Group’s 2024 partnership with EWEC, establishes ADNEC Center Abu Dhabi as the first and largest event venue in the MENA  region to operate entirely on clean energy.

The International Tracking Standard Foundation, the leading authority for renewable energy tracking and sustainability validation worldwide, verified the I-REC certification.

The certification not only ensures full transparency in ADNEC’s energy sourcing but also reinforces the group’s commitment to credible, internationally recognized sustainability practices.
