While some people choose to look younger through cosmetic enhancements, a 45-year-old eccentric tech millionaire went above and beyond to reverse the effects of aging in his body at a cost of $2 million per year.

Biotechnology pioneer Bryan Johnson is reportedly undergoing an expensive medical procedure to fulfill his goal of appearing to be 18 years old.

Johnson’s doctors revealed that some of their patient’s organs are actually aging backward, as evidenced by the fact that his heart, skin, and lung capacity appear to be 37, 28, and 18, respectively. Overall, Johnson, according to the businessman and his team, has rolled back the epigenetic clock by 5.1 years in just 7 months.

According to Bloomberg, the successful software entrepreneur is being treated by more than 30 medical professionals. The team, led by 29-year-old regenerative medicine specialist Oliver Zolman, has pledged to prevent Johnson’s organs from aging.

While Zolman and Johnson meticulously examine the scientific research on longevity and aging, Johnson is used as a test subject for the most intriguing treatments. They use every available means to keep tabs on Johnson’s development.

Changing DNA

In a related development, a recent discovery made by scientists at the Harvard Medical School‘s Sinclair Lab may alter how people age in the future.

The research, which was released on January 12, demonstrated how DNA organization and regulation, or epigenetic programming, affects aging.
