Covering an expansive area of 754,000 square meters (sq. m), Al-Urubah Park is one of the largest parks in Riyadh. Its prime location at the intersection of Prince Turki Bin Abdulaziz Al Awwal Road and Al Urubah Road allows easy access for residents from different parts of the city.

According to the RCRC statement, the park aims to enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors by offering recreational spaces, ultimately transforming Riyadh into one of the world’s most sustainable cities.

Unique design

The park’s unique design, incorporating international specifications, was chosen from submissions by six international contestants who participated in a competition focusing on sustainability and environmental standards.

The design includes a 3-kilometer-long and 12-meter-high panoramic path, providing visitors with views of the city’s landmarks. It also incorporates modern technologies, blending nature with technology to offer an interactive experience through augmented reality.

Extensive greenery, recreational delights

RCRC plans to plant over 600,000 trees and shrubs, covering 65 percent of the park’s area. Additionally, the initial design includes the development of permanent water bodies, including the Al Laysan Valley passing through the park.

The park features a 14-kilometer-long walking trail, green terraces, open spaces, and theaters for events and festivals. The statement also mentions the inclusion of sports facilities catering to various age groups.

Under the Green Riyadh Program, efforts are being made to plant residential neighborhoods, develop neighborhood parks, streets, and corridors, improve sidewalks and pedestrian walkways, and enhance mosques, schools, valleys, tributaries, and main roads.

Revitalizing communities, enhancing mobility

Furthermore, the program focuses on the development of government and public buildings such as ministries, authorities, and universities. It also encompasses the development of irrigation water networks spanning a total length of 1,350 kilometers throughout the city.

To meet the necessary planting requirements, Green Riyadh Nurseries aim to produce 3 million trees, shrubs, and soil covers annually, according to the statement.
