Apple revealed its highly anticipated artificial intelligence (AI) strategy, which includes implementing OpenAI’s ChatGPT in its devices in addition to its new ‘Apple Intelligence’ technology.

During Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024, the company showcased how its voice assistance Siri will now be able to interact with different apps including messages, emails, and calendar, where the assistant will be able to respond to emails and write them with the tone the user prefers.

The integration of ChatGPT in addition to other AI technologies will be available with the latest operating system which Apple also launched during the event. Every year, Apply hosts the WWDC to unveil its latest updates, products, and operating systems and show developers new tools and how to use them.

Siri gets ChatGPT update

Apple will integrate ChatGPT into its voice assistant Siri, which will allow it to have more control over challenging tasks and requests. However, this has raised some privacy concerns for users despite Siri asking permission from users before allowing access to the AI chatbot.

The company also plans to integrate AI from other companies as well amid discussions with Google for a potential agreement. In addition, Apple seeks to use both on-device processing and cloud computing to operate its new AI features. Therefore, the technology will only be available on upcoming iPhones and the iPhone 15 Pro.

Despite Apple opposing cloud processing of consumer data over privacy concerns, it revealed that it plans to offer strong privacy using its own chips and data centers. This will also allow the company to avoid relying on Nvidia’s chips.
