In a momentous announcement, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, along with his role as Chairman of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), unveiled the launch of ARDARA. This groundbreaking initiative is dedicated to the development of “AlWadi,” the flagship destination in the Aseer region. With its visionary approach, ARDARA aspires to create a truly unique urban lifestyle destination, catering to both local and international tourists, and setting the stage for an unparalleled experience. AlWadi, is projected to make a substantial contribution of over $5.06 billion (SAR19 billion) to the non-oil GDP of the Kingdom by 2030. Additionally, this development is expected to generate numerous job opportunities for the residents of the region.

Aligned with Vision 2030 and PIF’s strategic objectives, the development of AlWadi represents a significant endeavor to create distinctive and unparalleled experiences throughout the Kingdom.
Strategic alignment
The introduction of ARDARA is in perfect harmony with the Fund’s strategic vision to bolster promising economic sectors and foster income diversification in the Kingdom.
AlWadi plays a pivotal role in fulfilling the objectives outlined in the Aseer Development Strategy, known as “The Arabian Highland,” which was unveiled by the Crown Prince in 2021.
Encompassing an expansive area of 2.5 million square meters, the AlWadi destination will draw inspiration from the rich heritage and distinctive character of the Aseer region, reflecting its architectural styles and essence.
Prioritizing environmental consciousness
In line with global sustainability standards, this destination will prioritize environmental consciousness. Over 30 percent of the project’s area will be dedicated to green and open spaces, offering a remarkable 16 kilometers of waterfront, 17 kilometers of walking and cycling tracks, and a host of cultural activities and community gatherings, fostering vibrant and dynamic lifestyles.
