Set to be the benchmark for performance, ultra-luxury, and style, Aston Martin chose to call its new car a ‘Super Tourer’ rather than a Grand Tourer, the launch motto cleverly stated ‘Grand is not enough’.

The unveiling of the much-anticipated DB12 took place at the Cannes Film Festival and Dubai followed suit less than 24 hours later at Flat12. The car firmly marks a new era for Aston Martin, representing the next generation of sportscars for the British marque.

In true Aston Martin fashion, the DB12 promises to spark an explosive driving experience with never-before-seen refinement, luxury, and cutting-edge technology. The world’s first Super Tourer also reaffirms the continuation of the much-loved DB bloodline into the new decade.

Engine and performance

With the advancement of modern technology, the Aston Martin DB12 will have a smaller engine when compared with the outgoing DB11, switching up the V12 for a V8. Yet the latter will produce more power, thanks to larger turbos, better compression ratios and a superior cooling system. While we have not yet had the pleasure of driving the DB12, the figures seem to speak for themselves. Under the bonnet sits a 4.0-liter V8 Twin-Turbo hand-built powertrain sourced from Mercedes-AMG generating 670 bhp and 800Nm of torque. Factory data indicates 0-100 km/h is taken care of in just 3.5 seconds, while the top speed is a reported 323 km/h.

Details

The DB12 is a car for the most discerning of clients and therefore has an array of fine materials and personalization options thanks to Aston Martin’s cleverly named Q program. The cabin is roomy and elegant, and a true tribute to Aston’s DNA. As for the tech, for the first time Aston Martin has a new in-house infotainment system which accommodates the usual Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as whatever else one would expect from a car of this stature.

Aston says first deliveries are scheduled for Q3 2023, The World’s First Super Tourer will start from 900,000 AED and while not confirmed, we expect a DB12 Volante in the works soon.
