Bitcoin surpassed on Tuesday the $20,000 mark for the first time in nearly a week, as cryptocurrencies, like other risky assets, recovered in Asian trading.
Bitcoin, the most valuable cryptocurrency in terms of market capitalization increased by more than 5 percent to $20,286.
Ether, the second most valuable cryptocurrency, rose 4 percent to a one-week high of $1,389.
Meanwhile, the dollar fell slightly after reaching new highs on Monday, rising 0.29 percent to 143.78 yen, continuing its rise towards its highest level in 24 years, which it reached lasst Thursday at 145.90.
The dollar, however, fell to 140.31 on the same day after the Japanese government intervened and purchased the yen for the first time since 1998.
The dollar index surged by 0.76 percent to 114.58, having previously reached 114.58 for the first time since May 2002.
