A key production hub since 2009
Boeing South Carolina has been a pivotal site for the company since it began operations there in 2009. The facility has been responsible for the full production cycle of the 787 Dreamliner, which includes fabrication, assembly, and delivery of various models of the aircraft. The recent announcement comes at a time when Boeing is navigating financial difficulties, having reported a loss of over $8 billion in the first nine months of the year. Despite these challenges, the company is moving forward with its expansion plans, indicating a long-term vision for growth in South Carolina.
Local leaders have expressed strong support for Boeing’s expansion. Scott Stocker, Boeing’s South Carolina site leader, underscored the importance of this investment for the workforce and the community, stating that it marks a significant milestone in the company’s history in the state.
From his part, South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster highlighted the investment as a testament to the state’s pro-business environment and its role as a leader in the aerospace industry.
