Footage of the fire, along with updates, were shared on Ajman Police’s Instagram page. A video shows the flames rising from the bottom of the building, all the way to the top as firefighters work diligently to distinguish the blaze.
A mobile police station was on the scene, providing residents with the assistance and necessary measures needed to report lost items and ensure the safety of everyone present. Ajman’s Transport Authority, along with the Red Crescent, arrived shortly after to coordinate the transport of residents of the building to hotels in both Ajman and Sharjah.
No cause of the fire was reported, although similar incidents in the past have been attributed to the use of flammable cladding on many high-rises in the Emirates. In April of this year, a blaze at a residential and commercial complex in Dubai resulted in the death of 16 people.
