In a groundbreaking achievement, flynas, the leading low-cost airline in the Middle East, has reported exceptional results for its performance in 2023. The airline witnessed a historic increase in the number of passengers, soaring past 11.1 million, a remarkable growth of more than 28 percent.

Fleet expansion

flynas took delivery of 19 new aircraft in 2023, expanding its fleet size to 64 aircraft. This marks a notable increase of more than 35 percent. flynas’ growing fleet size empowered the airline to forge ahead with its strategic plan for growth and expansion.

Moreover, flynas launched an impressive 57 new destinations and routes across 10 countries in 2023. The inauguration of its fourth operations base at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah further solidified its presence. Meanwhile, the airline increased seat capacity by 22 percent for both domestic and international flights.

“We are proud of flynas’ performance and results in 2023, which reflect the strength of our business model, the distinguished effort made by our team, and the effectiveness of our strategic plan for growth and expansion,” stated Bander Almohanna, flynas CEO and managing director.

Investments and innovations

Almohanna highlighted flynas’ commitment to enhancing the passenger experience through innovative initiatives and products. The airline aims to achieve its strategic goals, aligning with the Pilgrims Experience Program (PEP) to facilitate access to the Two Holy Mosques. It also aims to align with the National Civil Aviation Strategy, fostering accessibility and connectivity.

flynas’ future outlook

Almohanna revealed flynas’ impressive accomplishments, including doubling the fleet size in less than two years. In addition, it signed a substantial agreement with Airbus for the purchase of 30 new A320neo aircraft. The agreement is part of a 120-aircraft order with a value exceeding SAR32 billion. Moreover, flynas plans to increase the order to 250 aircraft. The airline is set to make significant announcements about its expansion into new markets during the first quarter of 2024. Its growth reflects the booming aviation industry in the kingdom.

Global recognition

flynas’ success hasn’t gone unnoticed, as the airline won several international awards in 2023. Notably, Skytrax honored flynas as the 4th Best Low-Cost Carrier (LCC) worldwide and the Best Low-cost Airline in the Middle East for the sixth consecutive year. Additionally, the World Travel Awards awarded the carrier the Best Low-cost Airline Award in the Middle East for the ninth year in a row.
