flynas, the leading low-cost airline in the world and the best LCC in the Middle East, recently announced the addition of a new domestic destination, launching direct flights from King Fahad International Airport in Dammam to Red Sea International Airport. The latest announcement marks a notable addition to the airline’s local network, which aligns with its expansion plan and the national objectives of the aviation sector.

On December 28, flynas will launch two weekly flights from Dammam, one of its four operations bases around Saudi Arabia, to the Red Sea International Airport in the northwest of the Kingdom to serve the Red Sea destination and communities in the region.

Tourism boost

flynas’s new flights to the Red Sea International Airport support the progress of Saudi Arabia’s diversification plan, Vision 2030. The Red Sea is one of the vision’s developments which seeks to expand the travel tourism sector’s contributions to Saudi Arabia’s economy.

The 28,000-square-kilometer development is home to an archipelago of over 90 untouched islands, beaches, and several natural wonders including dormant volcanoes, desert dunes, and mountain canyons. The Red Sea is also home to the world’s fourth-biggest barrier reef. Upon completion in 2030, the destination will offer 8,000 rooms in 50 hotels, and 1,000 residential properties.

flynas connects more than 70 domestic and international destinations with more than 1,500 weekly flights and has flown more than 80 million passengers since its launch in 2007. The airline aims to expand its reach to 165 domestic and international destinations, in line with the objectives of Vision 2030.

Supporting National Civil Aviation Strategy targets

Earlier this month, the airline celebrated the inauguration of three weekly direct flights between Prince Muhammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah and Sphinx Airport in Cairo, adding one more route to its growing network between the two countries. flynas connects Egypt to Saudi Arabia with more than 120 weekly direct flights from five Saudi cities, namely Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Madinah, and Al-Ula, to Cairo, Sohag, Sharm El-Sheikh, Hurghada and El Alamein.

These expansions serve the Kingdom’s National Civil Aviation Strategy which seeks to connect Saudi Arabia to 250 International destinations. The strategy also aims to raise the number of passengers to 330 million and host 150 million tourists annually by 2030. The growth in the number of flights also serves the objectives of the Pilgrims Experience Program (PEP) to facilitate access to the Two Holy Mosques.
